Original Sin Biden Book Controversy
NPR’s Michel Martin interviewed Democratic strategist David Axelrod on May 14, 2025, discussing the book Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson.
Axelrod described the book’s allegations as “troubling,” emphasizing the seriousness of claims that the White House may have misled the public about Biden’s health. He noted that the book is based on over 200 interviews, suggesting a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Interview highlights
Michel Martin: I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to read the book. The official release date is May 20.
Axelrod: I haven’t gotten a chance to read the whole book yet. But the details in The New Yorker excerpt were somewhat stunning.
WHAAAAT!?! Let us get this straight — neither the interviewer nor the interviewee has actually read the book they are “discussing.” Far from drawing on an original source, Mr. Axelrod admitted that it was obtained from a New Yorker article. Well, in the journalistic milieu of NPR, that makes him a real expert. This truly is an Original Sin Biden Book Controversy, one we hope helps to bring the public to continue to question the media motives.
There’s a descriptive acronym for this. No, it’s not YOLO or FOMO or even FAFO — it’s GIGO!
More iron(y) than Geritol! Biden mental health controversy continues to be spun by the media, making a buck with a book deal. We wrote on this book previously and welcome you to read that article: https://molierecitations.com/moliere-citation-with-chutzpah-enhancement-to-jake-tapper-and-alex-thompson/
With heartfelt pleasure, the Molière team awards the Citation to NPR’s Michael Martin jointly with David Axelrod, for a job not even halfway well done.
Do people still tune in to this echo chamber, and if so, WHY?
