Judge Hannah Dugan indicted! It’s not often that a federal grand jury hands up an indictment of a sitting judge. And there’s little doubt in this case that disputes will arise over both facts and procedures.
For good or ill, journalistic standards (especially satirical ones) do not include a requirement to prove “beyond a reasonable doubt” that the defendant is guilty of a crime.
So we are not going to hang about on tenterhooks waiting for the moment if and when the judge can have the famous words “convicted felon” attached to her name.
Last year, we wrote on another judge who was behaving badly. His situation did not, yet reveal the foul play because Judge Ural Glanville of Fulton County GA threw the attorney into jail to prevent man from telling the full story and revealing Judge Granville’s misbehavior. You can review that old case in our article https://molierecitations.com/moliere-citation-for-judge-ural-glanville-of-fulton-county-ga/
Judge Hannah Dugan indicted!
The Molière Citation is awarded today based on the non-legal assumption that where there’s smoke there’s fire. Pointing out again, Judge Hannah Dugan indicted! This is no small matter and we are glad to see that her actions have not been brushed under the rug.
There seems to be little doubt that the actions of the judge fit the description of aiding and abetting the escape of a person being pursued by federal agents by directing the escapee to a non-public door, leading from her courtroom to the outside.
Even if her acts did not rise to the level of a criminal violation of federal law, the mission of Molière Citations is fulfilled by ridiculing her lack of common sense and good judgment.
We trust that others on the bench may take note of both this citation and the issuance of an indictment by a Federal grand jury in making their decisions both in the courtroom and outside.
Congratulations to Judge Hannah Dugan on the award of the Molière Citation of the day.
