” The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) opened the National Do Not Call Registry in order to comply with the Do-Not-Call Implementation Act of 2003 ( Pub. L.Tooltip Public Law (United States)108–10 (text) (PDF) …”

After 20 years, and untold wasted taxpayer dollars, we seem to receive just as many unwanted “spam” calls (and texts) as we did prior to this “helpful” federal law and regulation.

It’s a wonder that nobody in the Congress has the intestinal fortitude to hold an oversight hearing and get a report on how many tens (hundreds?) of millions of taxpayer dollars have been spent by the FTC so ineffectually.  How many bureaucrats are on the FTC payroll to enforce this generally useless federal law?

It’s fair to acknowledge that occasionally the FTC’s “sister” agency the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) tracks down and punishes some outlying robocall abuser.

But the FTC — not so much.

If you are still receiving unwanted calls and texts about extending your automobile warranty, securing a government grant or loan, senior benefit, or similar provocation from some offshore person claiming to have a familiar common name, you are not alone.

It’s long past time for some oversight and accountability.  The FTC needs to be put on notice that unless spam calls stop right now, there will be NO appropriated funds for the bloated “Do Not Call” employees in fiscal 2025.

Call or write your Senator or Representative (or both), and demand action now!
