Chicago residents rip mayor over spending on migrants: ‘Worst mayor in America’

Whether or not you may think the jokes about Chicago voters including the “graveyard vote” are funny, or whether you think that voters in Chi-town include folks who are here legally (or even exist), there is no doubt that the Brandon Johnson administration has left behind any pretense that the city will be run according to the best interests of the legitimate voters and taxpayers.

The long (and generally accepted) history of Chicago mayors playing by the rules of corruption and power has been exceeded by a country mile (sic).  This isn’t your grandfather’s Daley-type patronage, or even the combative style of Rahm Emanuel, or even the clash among allies that came with Lori Lightfoot.

FWIW, it’s been nearly 100 (count ’em) years that the post has been filled by Democrats (the last Republican, Big Bill Thompson, ended his second non-consecutive term in 1931).  Coincidence? Maybe

But Mayor Johnson has brought a new level of disregard for Chicago residents — to the extent that there are protests against him by the very demographic who elected him and whom he claims to serve.

Joining the mayor in the abandonment of political reason and interest is the billionaire Governor of Illinois, J B Pritzker, who says that if the federal government is going to do its job on enforcement of the immigration laws then folks like Tom Homan of ICE will have to “go through” the Governor.

Maybe an adjoining cell will have to be reserved alongside the Mayor of Denver, who says he’s prepared to go to the slammer in support of frustrating the enforcement of immigration laws.

If it weren’t so painful to watch we’d be amused, but it’s past time to draw attention to the follies of these politicians who grandstand on flaunting their disregard for their legitimate constituents.

The coveted Molière Citation is awarded jointly to Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago and his sideman Governor J B Pritzker.  May they soon be replaced by officials who will abide by their oaths of office and take care of their constituents first and foremost.
