Choosing up sides on this Molière award was easy.
The whiners came out of the woodwork (clutching their pearls) to moan about the use of a prosthetic nose on Bradley Cooper to assist him in his artistic attempt to portray the leading character in the Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro .
Bernstein’s family responded by going on the record in support of Bradley Cooper and the film. (No harm, no foul — right?)
The icing on the cake was the Oscar nomination for best makeup and hairstyling. By all official accounts, the work by special make-up effects artist Kazu Hiro was one of the most remarkable aspects of the film.
It may not be a horse race, but there’s no doubt that Maestro wins by a nose! [We’d rather ask forgiveness than permission.]
