“It’s OK, judge, I wasn’t driving under the influence — I was ‘Cali sober’.”
Maybe that works in a Californicated court of law, but it definitely wouldn’t fly at, say, an AA meeting.
Regardless of the legal implications, the oxymoronic concept of “Cali sober” is the equivalent of calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist” or calling the cryogenic repository for Ted Williams’s head an “extinct life” facility.
The 4/20 Molière Citation goes to the cynical promoters of cannabis libations — the “lesser evil” than the carcinogenic purveyors of vaping goods or the “drink responsibly” crowd at the distilled and brewed spirits outfits.
Now, we’re not prudes, and even enjoy our own “wee dram” once the sun goes over the yardarm — or as Jimmy Buffett (may he R.I.P.) might have observed “It’s 5:00 somewhere.”
But call a spade a spade: if you’re tripped out on THC, it just isn’t “sober” — not even in the People’s Republic of California.
