Great — another opportunity for a two-fer sponsored by impeached (but not convicted) DHS Secretary Mayorkas!

First, this “Board” will functionally operate as a government-sanctioned antitrust exemption (otherwise, such a meeting of competitors would constitute a conspiracy to commit violations of the antitrust laws).

Second, it lines up with the failed attempt of DHS to impose narrative orthodoxy in the media and private parties through the so-called “Disinformation Governance Board.”

“AI-bias remediation” has a translation in the common vernacular.  It means “I’m going to replace everyone else’s bias with my own,” and it generally conforms to the “narrative” of the left-wing oppressors.

Based on the record of government influence, we must make no mistake: this kind of DHS initiative will result in the imposition of AI applications used to support twisting the meanings of such Constitutional provisions to allow terrorists to run riot.  

We are already seeing it on campuses, where the ACLU wants to intervene on behalf of antisemitic demonstrators.  (To be fair, the ACLU also sided with the American Nazi Party in getting a permit to march in Skokie, Il, proving that the organization functions as an equal opportunity useful idiot.)

It’s a no-brainer to conclude that getting these major players in the AI space together, under the pretense of protecting our homeland security, will result in a series of recommendations and actions. 

At best, they will give cover to major players skirting the antitrust laws.  At worst, they will find ways to undercut the Constitutional rights of our entire population.
